Reopened as Home Ground in the Old High Street / Creative Quarter.
I been here! See more in my gigography.
Previously the Wishing Well cafe and then The Whole World Cafe.
Review! great coffee, good food, love the location, but you need a very long time to wait for coffee here.. The staff are not able to do two things at once. its so frustrating... such a shame.. we have tried this place loads hoping things may improve. I want it to work but always the same terrible service, no acknowledgement or communcation at all
or La Vue or possibly Lone Star Comedy at Lanterns, try one of those. Good luck!
Rates (or was it rent) had just gone up, too much competition and not enough passing trade (ie none). So they've packed it in! This from a friend, I have not spoken directly. I understand (well read on Twitter) that there's an article about it in the Folkestone Herald today.
tis true they are gone saying that not worth carrying on as many shops closing in the old high street - no passing trade any more and much competition!
The Wife went past yesterday and says it's closed down. Sign says they've ceased trading at that address (or similar wording), but does this mean they've moved elsewhere?
here - why's it all in spanish though, is that just me?
Friday, got properly into the Christmas season, went to "A Christmas Of Sorts" at the Whole World Cafe, and it was brilliant! Was not quite sure what to expect from the gig before hand, but it really was ace, if you get the chance to see [google=carnival of sorts folkestone]A Carnival Of Sorts[/google], or any of their events then I urge you to, it was great. Acoustic loveliness.
when you go in the cafe you do not know what to do i.e self serve or be sit and be served.. it turns out it depends on the mood of the owner. The eldery Irish lady seemed bored to be there but i did order my food which was hard work as the black board was not updated the food came to me 40 minutes later and was average but ok.. my coffee was cold and weak too.. I will not be going back..
open mic night, anything goes, poetry, song, speech etc. Free drink for every performer.
And every two weeks after that, message from Tony King
Hi Everyone!! I am now running the Open Mic Night at the Whole World Cafe, the Old High St, Folkestone. This is a lovely venue which specialises in Ethical, Homemade Wholefood. The surroundings are colourful with a gallery of work from local artists adorning the walls. It's this Friday 8th Feb and will be every 2 weeks. I will do a mail out for each one. The Whole World Cafe is a child friendly venue. They serve a range of coffes, teas and food and also has an alcohol licence. THERE IS A FREE DRINK FOR EVERY PERFORMER. It will be an entertaining evening for all concerned whether performing or not. There is some great talent out there. A full PA with feedback monitor will be set up. There are 2 mics available. Bring your friends.
A friend has been there twice recently, and failed to get any food either time. What sort of cafe has no food? Apparently there is some sort of re-opening of it going on about now. Someone let me know when it's up and running and serving and everything, please.
Saturday we headed to The Whole World Cafe, and what do you know it was actually open this time? We were a bit previous on our other two visits. It's a nice place, not sure they're quite up to speed yet, but salads and coffee and juice were good, and it's nice decor and atmosphere.
A guide to eating and drinking in Folkestone, Sandgate, Hythe, and the surrounding area... Do you remember when this was the top ranking result for Folkestone Restaurants? All independent, unfortunately unpaid, never spiteful...
