Someone sold a postcard here of The Radnor Club, for 22 recently. Unfortunately the picture of isn't loading...
RADNOR CLUB, CHRISTCHURCH, FOLKESTONE. KENT
Postally used 1913. Real photo Radnor club, Christchurch, Folkestone, Kent, minor corner creasing. Nice card.
Does that mean "Christchurch Road" do you think? That's where The Happy Frenchman is now, so was that The Radnor Club? Or was it at the end of the road, on the corner, where that building is up for sale right now?
This is part of my website The FG that I built in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for favourite places and things, and I know it was a handy resource for those who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
