Some news from the weekend, just been reminded by This piece in the Telegraph, Adam Rickett formerly of [artist]Coronation Street and that has his eye on Michael Howard's seat.
A former Coronation Street actor on David Cameron's elite list of would-be MPs is aiming to inherit Michael Howard's safe Conservative seat, it emerged yesterday.
Zac Goldsmith has not ruled it out either - anything that puts Folkestone in the media is alright by me.
This is part of my site The FG that I built in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events and voting for favourite places and stuff, and I know it was a useful resource for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a fake newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
