Also went to Earl Brownes in Hythe yesterday, it's new, and it's quite swanky... an interesting mix of styles, from the tudor beams in the bar, back to the bedouin style drapes at the back. A bit bright in there, but very nice. No real ales, but they do have Bitberger on tap. Menu looks nice, a bit of a mediteranian style mix, some of it feels French or Italian, but then they have fajita style dishes too. Only been open three days, go and have a look...
This is my website The 'Gerald that I built in a fury of enthusiasm when I first came here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite venues and stuff, and I know it was a handy reference for others who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. I am not Gerald BTW, this comes from the name of a fake newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
