Had a rare night out on Saturday, babysitter in, pregnant wife able to drive us anywhere so we went a bit further afield to some pubs we'd not tried before. First stop The Black Horse Monks Horton. And it's great! I knew this pub would be, it's just a little out of the way, but worth a visit. Huge, big garden, TV outside (though not on when we were there). Real ale was good, and they have a bar billiards table, which we played.
Food sounds good, we will be back to visit another time. They had a giant puffball on display that had been foraged locally, and was due to be cooked up the following day (so Sunday, yesterday). Let me know if you ate it!

This is my website The Folkestone Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar and voting for best venues and stuff, and I know it was a handy reference for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do contact me if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
