Disappointed. We had a beautiful bit of fish, nicely cooked that was destroyed as a meal by chips that were either re-heated or kept warm under a light for a long period of time. The chips were chewy rendering the wooden implements virtually useless The meal sat heavy. We had high hopes of a an 'upmarket' fish and chip shop. The surroundings were modern but stark; service was poor and ultimately the product was overpriced.
This is part of my website The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first moved to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get now. The site used to be a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for best venues and stuff, and I hear it was a useful resource for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
