On our journey from holidays in the Cotswolds back to Germany, we spent a last evening on the island in Folkestone, in The Pullman. It was the happy end of two wonderful weeks!
The owner was very kind and obliging, for instance to show us the way to a cash machine. The staff was very polite and open-minded to let us select the right meal and drink. (Best regards to the girl with relatives at Bielefeld!) The whole atmosphere was plesant even to strangers like us. Thanks!
This is my site The Folkestone Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when we first moved here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite places and things, and I know it was a handy resource for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
