Billionaire Roger De Haan has revealed he is in negotiation with a number of companies which will become partners in the venture to realise his popular Masterplan vision.
The former Saga boss will redevelop the redundant site to provide benefits including 1,000 homes, recreational facilities, civic building, university campus and shops.
Mr De Haan told a business construction magazine: "The seafront and harbour development presents an extraordinary opportunity to provide Folkestone with a superb new waterfront development.
A little more here in the Herald. Sounds like it's going to be five years or more until it's finished though, bah.
This is my site The Folkestone Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for favourite venues and stuff, and I hear it was a useful reference for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
