Great location, and near my house but was always a "bar", not a pub... I wonder if Costa will serve booze? Otherwise why would we go there?

I been here! See more in my gigography.
Used to be "the" place to go in the summer.
Recently a short lived venture called The Deck or The Deck @ Vasa. Before that was briefly a mediterranean jazz bar or something. Great location and near my house but was always very much a "bar", no

Now it has been confirmed... I was hoping it was actually the group that owns Costa that had bought it and it would become a pub, but no. Does seem odd, it's not even right in Sandgate will they get enough footfall? Guess they know something we don't and it will be worthwhile for them. Can't see us ever going in it though.
Seems an odd move to me, it's going to have to be more than a normal train station / service station type thing surely.
250k but I think that's a guide price for auction. Here it is.
Situated on Sandgates Esplanade with uninterrupted views of the sea and coastline, Bar Vasa is a well known restaurant/bar with function room and terrace. The property is located on the A259, between the centres of Folkestone and Hythe, with only the road separating the building from the beach.2016-04-16
The where? The what? The Deck is probably an unfamiliar venue name to most people, but we just got a note pushed through the door advertising their christmas eve and new years parties... what's that added on to the flyer in felt pen after they'd gone to the printers? Oh Vasa! Why didn't you say it's at Bar Vasa?
Vasa is opening again, grand opening in April but taking bookings for mothers day
Only just spotted that Bar Vasa is shut again, and up for sale freehold. Also while driving back from Dover yesterday saw that The Black Bull is gone (boarded up) and so is The Castle near Radnor Park. There really aren't that many pubs left are there?
My son and daughter in law had their reception at Vasa. They paid for catering for 50 people but the food provided only covered a maximum of 30 servings. At least 20 guests went hungry. We have tried to liaise with the management on at least 3 occasions, but they just don't want to know. Very sad really. Good money paid, but little back for it.
Picked up the local CAMRA 'zine in The Britannia on Wednesday. As well as reminding me (too late) that it's Dover Winter Ales festival at Dover Town Hall this weekend (was great when I have been previously, though no fun queueing to get in in this weather), I learned more... Unfined Beer sounds like a great concept, I could enjoy beer with a clear vegan conscience - cloudy cider is great, so why not traditional cloudy ale? See moorbeer.co.uk for more details.
Those are the plans anyway, according to my spies who were there yesterday. That's what my spies were told anyhow. They did not witness any construction, or cocktails.
Speaking of rumours, I heard Gary Glitter is buying Bar Vasa.
I heard from a neighbour that Vasa is not necessarily closing, but the receivers may have moved in. It is being run as normal, though someone is interested in turning it into a hotel.
I can safely say NO!!! we've got the old menu back, serving all the old favourites, come and see for yourself
I heard today that Bar Vasa will be closing in the next few weeks, anyone else back this up?
I hear it's being turned into flats. Of all the pubs that might close, this one surprises me. Not that I went there, but I thought a lot of people did.
Heard a rumour that Bar Vasa were going to be opening a new place along Tontine Street soon, but now, they are going to be running the bar at the new Quarterhouse venue. I expect you have picked up this news somewhere else already, but just trying something new.
A guide to eating and drinking in Folkestone, Sandgate, Hythe, and the surrounding area... Do you remember when this was the top ranking result for Folkestone Restaurants? All independent, unfortunately unpaid, never spiteful...
