Was briefly the pub of the Creative Quarter (before the Creative Quarter extended beyond the Old High Street), even though it's not all that. Picture courtesy Shane Record, used without permission, but I have bought the original of this so I hope I'm OK.
Now closed.
I been here! See more in my gigography.
Great blog post here by @rhysdgriffiths gives all the facts about who's opening and who's not opening where in the creative quarter. I was suspicious of the Max's House people, their web stuff seemed to be all over the place. Seems they were planning to open in the old Earl Grey but are not right now, maybe in the future though. Some good details on other things that should, hopefully, one day, happen in Folkestone too
Seems to be a constant stream of closures at the moment, this town feels like it's dying on its arse at times. I had not been in the Earl Grey for a long time, it wasn't a very appealing pub, but it feels like we ought to be able to support more pubs than we have. I guess the strongest will survive.

Popped in The Earl Grey for one too on a bit of a crawl around town on Saturday evening, it's changed style a bit since I last went in there, it's very studenty indeed, though not menacing at all as it has been at points in the past.
Just found this article / review about the Earl Grey, and it laments the change of landlord and the introduction of a pool table... slightly out of date info, there's no pool table in the Earl Grey... is there?
A guide to eating and drinking in Folkestone, Sandgate, Hythe, and the surrounding area... Do you remember when this was the top ranking result for Folkestone Restaurants? All independent, unfortunately unpaid, never spiteful...
