Councillor Dan Hassett says Starbucks are definitely coming to Folkestone now:
There has been much speculation about Starbucks opening in Folkestone. I can finally confirm that they will be opening in the new Bouverie Place shopping centre. They have applied for permission to extend opening hours to 7am-10pm and to have an outdoor seating area.
A bank/building society/Bureau de Change will also be opening in Bouverie Place. There have been rumours that HSBC is moving in. It's a large unit spread over two floors.
Costa's a bit pricey, and the queues are too long / slow, and Starbucks often has better food. Let the games commence!
This is part of my website The 'Gerald that I built in a frenzy of excitement when I first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site used to be a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for favourite venues and things, and I know it was a handy reference for others who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from the name of a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
