Just came across your mention of The Higher State. I saw them on 9th December at the Dirty Water Club and they were really very good. It's seldom that I see a first band on get such a reception from an audience that mostly doesn't know already, even asking them for an encore. They're back at the Dirty Water Club on 14 April (with an Australian all girl group called The Dollsquad and a spanish garage band called The Hollywood Sinners).
This is my site The FG that I built in a fever of enthusiasm when we first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. This site was a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for favourite places and stuff, and I know it was a useful resource for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from the name of a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
