Got this from gigdealer.com, sounds like a reasonable idea for the local type bands...
The gigdealer.com is a new "gig-exchange-website" for bands and musicians, wich helps you and your band to play more live concerts in new cities / locations and to reach new fans!
Most of us dont have a big fat major deal or the support of a professionel booking-agency: So its time to help yourself and work together with the gigdealer-bands!
And so it works:...
1) You organize a concert (gig) for your band and tell the location-owner that youll bring one (or more) support-bands with you.
2) You put in the gig in our database and the other gigdealer-bands will send you an Application for the place as your support-band!
3) You choose one (or more) bands and in response, youll play the support at the next gig from your guest-bands in their city / country or wherever!
So in this case...
And the best thing: you work together with another active and open minded gigdealer-band!!!
This is part of my website The 'Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when I first came here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite places and stuff, and I hear it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a fake newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
