Dear All,
Just to remind you that the Town Unearthed Research Group will be meeting this Thursday (9th Dec) at 6.30-8pm at the History Resource Centre at Folkestone Library.
We will be discussing research themes and agreeing groups and questions.
Also, on the following Thursday (16th) the Research group will be holding a Magic Lantern Show of slides from the Winbolt excavation of the villa hosted for us by 'Professor Coulson and his Magic Lantern' ( 6.30-8pm).
This will be preceded by a 'Victorian Christmas' event at the HRC with some festive refreshments and a chance to look at some Victorian items from the Library's collection (5 -6.30pm) All are welcome.

This is part of my site The FG that I built in a fury of excitement when I first came here in approximately '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite places and things, and I know it was a handy resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald.
