rail news has the details, that's nice, but when you think about it that's not really all that impressive - the current trains could do it in not much more than that if they didn't stop at all the stations in between. Still, looking forward to it, how long can it take us to get from Folkestone to Ashford on the high speed rail link? Not half an hour, we'll be under that magical hour barrier to London before you know it. High paid city jobs, here we come!
What? Of course I'm a subscriber to rail news...
This is part of my site The FG that I built in a fury of excitement when we first moved here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site was a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for favourite places and things, and I know it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a fake paper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
